  • Main duties include providing professional advice, guidance and support to managers, headteachers and governors on a wide range of employment and related issues, delivering options, progress and solutions on a range of casework, supporting service managers in dealing with investigations and disciplinary matters, contributing to service led projects, challenging discriminatory actions and behaviours, and having regular contact with Trade Union and Professional Body representatives.

We are looking for a HR Officer to build capacity within the HR Advisory Service and require an experienced HR Officer to undertake casework over the next few months. This is a contract due to start in June until January 2025.

Monday to Friday 09:00am - 17:00pm - hybrid.

The Role

Your main duties will include:

  • Provide professional advice, guidance and support to managers, headteachers and governors on a wide range of employment and related issues.
  • Deliver options, progress and solutions on a range of casework including recruitment, performance, investigations, disciplinary, grievances and interpretation of terms and conditions of service.
  • Support and guide service managers in dealing with investigations and disciplinary and other conduct matters to support and protect the interests of the business and to ensure due process and fairness.
  • Contribute to service led projects and business iniatives from a people management perspective.
  • Challenge discriminatory actions and behaviours and take appropriate action to ensure compliance with equality and diversity standards.
  • Regular contact with Trade Union and Professional Body represantatives to provide information and negotiate resolutions.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Consistent experience in an operational HR role within a progressive organisation.
  • Proven experience in managing and advising on complex disciplinary and grievance issues, producing and interpreting analytical data, producing reports and management information.
  • In depth knowledge of relevant legislation and recognised 'best' HR practise.
  • Working knowledge of service/business issues/objectives and how HR can impact and influence these.
  • Able to effectively communicate on complex issues at all levels in an appropriate and concise manner, both orally and in writing.
