Job Title: Legal Cashier / Accounts Assistant

We are looking for an experienced Legal Cashier / Accounts Assistant to join a small, efficient, and professional team. This role combines responsibility for key accounts tasks with the opportunity to drive accuracy, manage processes, and contribute to team performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage client and office accounting transactions, including postings and cheque production

  • Perform daily banking functions and reconcile accounts

  • Process bank transfers and oversee month-end procedures

  • Administer and reconcile petty cash efficiently

  • Prepare VAT returns and maintain accurate records

  • Ensure compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules, Law Society Rules, Client Care, and Money Laundering regulations

  • Support audits and collate required information

  • Contribute to accounts administration for associated companies

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience in banking or relevant accounts procedures

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills

  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines under pressure

  • Proficient in Excel, Outlook, and other IT tools

  • Organised, dependable, and professional

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Able to work independently and collaborate effectively when required

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules

  • Experience with financial software systems, including Xero

  • Understanding of VAT regulations
