Senior Cost Accountant

Seymour John is exclusively recruiting for an international manufacturer based in Telford, who seek a Senior Cost Accountant. In this role you will have responsibility to provide robust reporting of the manufacturing element of the accounting function. You will report to the Head of Finance and act as a business partner to various key internal functions such as operations, the SMT and Group.

In this varied role you will provide analysis and commentary of key manufacturing variances, whilst setting budgeted standard costs. You will actively participate in group finance projects and continuously look at ways to improve existing processes by redesign to exclude waste and provide efficiencies.

  • Support and manage the costing and controlling functions with a team of three reporting
  • Review monthly manufacturing variances in detail and provide commentary on major deviations
  • Ensure budgetary control of fixed costs / overheads
  • Monitor and report on business unit fixed cost deviations
  • Monitor & report on marketing mix deviations
  • Preparation of effective forecast models in the area of operational variances, business unit overhead and inventory valuations 8. fixed asset monitoring & reporting actual vs budget
  • Overall responsibility for the fixed asset and investment projects, including sanction approvals, asset control and verification, activations & disposals.
  • Fixed Asset Journal preparation and posting (including depreciation)
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Responsible for the overall preparation of budgeted standard product costs
  • Support local management and sales teams with product cost analysis
  • Support and manage the purchase ledger and treasury tasks

To be considered for this role it is essential that you have extensive experience in a manufacturing environment and detailed knowledge of associated accounting practices. You will possess a detailed understanding of costing techniques and variance analysis. It is essential that you are a strong communicator who is not afraid to ask questions. Strong systems skills such as SAP or NAV along with an ability to manipulate and be confident in working with large sets of data.
