Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer looking for a new role?

We are recruiting on behalf of our client who design and manufacture specialist battery handling solutions. The new mechanical design engineer will work with other engineers and internal personnel to define new product specifications, develop new designs and final design solutions. They will manage & coordinate project activities & support the existing product base.

Role Definition

  • To have a general engineering background & experience, to be proficient in the use of inventor & auto-cad software.
  • Interpretation of idea's and engineering RFQ's to design mechanical fabrications in a wide ranging and diverse environment.
  • Understanding of a wide range of materials.
  • Knowledge of fabrication, machining & sheet metal designs to interlink with existing products.
  • Ability to create parts, assemblies, fabrications, design tables and drawings using Autodesk
  • Inventor and Auto-Cad software.

Duties:

  • To liaise with the production manager & salesman to interpret drawings & site surveys to produce manufacturing designs/drawings,
  • To incorporate best-practice & to use of known methods of manufacturing.
  • Have the understanding and to comply with the Health, Safety and Environmental legislation & policies.
  • Analysing and interpreting data and information.
  • Liaising with suppliers, clients, architects and contractors.
  • Design of new products.
  • Understanding of RFQ's supplied & turn these into solid designs.
  • To be able to conduct structural steel calculations under various scenarios.
  • Recommending modifications for existing products & systems.
  • To use a drawing library & file new & existing deigns in a robust numerical system for other engineers to use.
  • Detail-oriented, organized with the ability to handle multiple ongoing projects.
  • Ability to communicate with sales, engineers, and outside customers.
  • Familiar with engineering process, revisions, ECR, change orders, etc.
  • Advanced Microsoft user to include Project and Excel software.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proficient user of Autodesk Inventor & Auto- CAD software
  • Relevant manufacturing/engineering qualification, A Levels, ONC, City & Guilds level 3, BTEC National Diploma Level 3, IVQ Technician Diploma, NVQ level 3.
  • Excellent communication skills-must be able to interface with other engineers & non-technical personnel.
  • Good understanding of engineering principles.
  • From Engineering background, mechanical and fabrication.
  • Understanding of legislation and standards.
