Housing Strategy and Development Lead

We're seeking an Interim Housing Strategy and Affordable Housing Development Lead to take the lead on key strategic housing projects that will have a lasting impact across the region.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced housing professional to join on a 4-6 month contract, working 3-4 days per week, with potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities:
·Lead the development of a co-produced Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy, ensuring broad engagement and progression through the democratic adoption process.
·Oversee the creation of a Specialist Housing Strategy and its accompanying Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), from development to adoption.
·Provide expert advice on affordable housing within planning, including direct engagement with developers, registered providers, and key stakeholders such as Homes England.
·Represent and justify affordable housing policy at planning appeals and public inquiries, as needed.

What we're looking for:
·A strategic housing professional with extensive experience in policy development, planning, and affordable housing delivery.
·Strong research, evaluation, and analytical skills, with the ability to use data to drive decision-making.
·A collaborative approach, able to engage and influence senior officers, elected members, and external partners.
·Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to deliver complex messages to a range of audiences.

Location: Berkshire (working arrangements to be confirmed)
