The below job description will outline this position of: Marine engineer

Typically, this person will join the Torpoint team who specialise in re-fit, repair and maintenance of commercial and leisure vessels. 

HSB Technical’s client is a very established and well-regarded business entity.

Duties and responsibilities of the Marine engineer:

• Able to work with on a range of vessels, from small work boats to those weighing up to 300 tonnes, including experience with afloat operations.     
• Good knowledge of RHIB (Pacific 22 / 24) experience including knowledge of jet drive propulsion systems would be advantageous 
• Understanding of various systems such as freshwater, domestic, saltwater, engine cooling, hydraulics, low-pressure air, bilge, black/grey water, and heating systems.        
• Expertise in all aspects of diesel engines, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and servicing.           
• Familiarity with propulsion and steering systems.            
• Strong knowledge of engine and gearbox installation, including the integration of ancillaries and alignment with shafts.             

Qualifications and requirement for the Marine engineer:


•  Knowledge of electrical installations is advantageous.            
•  Ability to operate workshop machinery, including lathe, milling machine, and pillar drill, is beneficial.         
•  Would be expected to work on MoD sites when required and security vetting will be necessary.             
•  Driving License essential    
• Able to commute to Torpoint outside of normal working hours for slipping and launching vessel.
