School Kitchen Manager
Salary: £27,711 - £32,654 (full-time equivalent, pro rata depending on experience)
Hours: 35 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time + 1 week)
Working Hours: 7:00am – 2:00pm, Monday to Friday
Are you a passionate and experienced kitchen leader looking to make a real impact? Wise Employment are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic School Kitchen Manager to join a fantastic school in Paignton, managing a team of 4. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the health and wellbeing of young children by providing healthy, high-quality meals every school day.
School Kitchen Manager Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals (up to 300 meals per day)
- Plan menus and order food and supplies in line with budget and school policies
- Responsible for working with specific dietary requirements and food allergies
- Manage kitchen staff, including training, rotas, and performance
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health and safety, and cleanliness
- Keep accurate records of stock, cash handling, and kitchen operations
- Work closely with the School Business Manager and Headteacher to ensure smooth running of the catering service
What We're Looking For:
- Experience managing a kitchen or catering operation
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations (Level 2 or 3 Food Hygiene Certificate preferred)
- Preferably a Level 3 First Aid qualification
- Organised, reliable, and able to work under pressure
- Experience of budgeting
