Education Support Assistant - SEND School

We are working in partnership with a SEND School in Towcester, NN12, is a dedicated and inclusive learning environment committed to supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The pupils are aged 7-18, providing tailored educational experiences that promote personal growth and academic success.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Education Support Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with students with additional needs, primarily those with SEMH and challenging behaviour, to support their learning and development. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in creating a positive and engaging learning environment that meets the unique needs of each student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to pupils, assisting with academic tasks and social development.
  • Assist in managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support techniques.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Support students in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and positive relationships with peers and staff.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in SEND education.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working with children and young people with SEMH and challenging behaviour is desirable.
  • Understanding of SEND and the specific challenges faced by students with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and personal development of young people.
