Environmental & Sustainability Manager

Overview:
Are you passionate about environmental stewardship and sustainability? We are seeking a dynamic individual to lead our environmental management team in minimizing and mitigating environmental impacts across our project scheme. Reporting directly to the Project Director, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while fostering sustainable construction practices.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead the environmental management team to integrate Authority requirements, Environmental Design Principles, and associated plans into project design to minimize environmental impact during construction.
Supervise a multidisciplinary team of specialists to ensure compliance and effective control measures are in place.
Provide expert guidance on environmental controls, legislation, and compliance standards relevant to project works.
Manage the delivery, implementation, and maintenance of the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and associated reports.
Coordinate stakeholder engagement through Environmental Liaison Group meetings and ensure alignment with regulatory bodies and local authorities.
Oversee ecological and environmental surveys, ensuring adherence to construction schedules.
Collaborate with Ecological Clerk of Works to obtain necessary licenses and implement mitigation measures.
Update Emergency Response Plan with environmental risks and conduct regular reviews.
Plan and implement surface water management strategies to prevent pollution risks.
Ensure compliance with legal requirements and facilitate communication with regulators.
Conduct regular inspections, audits, and investigations of environmental incidents, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions.
Collaborate with safety teams to evaluate and improve safety practices and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
Proven experience in environmental management, preferably in construction or infrastructure projects.
In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance standards.
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders effectively.
Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and prioritize tasks efficiently.
Proficiency in environmental assessment tools and software.
Commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
