DT Technician needed for a September start!

Are you an enthusiastic and passionate DT Technician? Are you looking to work in a dynamic and supportive department? Twenty4Seven education are working with a prestigious grammar school in Tunbridge Wells, Kent with the recruitment of a DT Technician to start in September 2024!

As a result of recent expansion, they are looking for a DT Technician to startin September 2024. This role will be based in a brand new campus in Tunbridge Wells, Kent during an exciting time for the school, so this is a great opportunity to be part of it!

This role will support teachers in the delivery of the curriculum within multimedia workshops, including wood, metal and plastics, CAD CAM and traditional making.

The successful candidate will assist in the maintenance and provision of the classrooms and resources, with a view to supporting safe, effective, and efficient teaching and learning.

They will have the technical competence required for preparing and ordering of materials as well as maintaining machines and equipment. The person will support and guide students in realising the practicalities of their final design, as part of their GCSE and A Level projects. They will have previous experience working with children, have strong organisational skills and have the ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.

Duties will include:

  • Preparing Materials: Procuring, preparing, and maintaining materials and equipment for DT projects, including wood, metal, plastics, and electronics.
  • Maintaining Tools and Equipment: Ensuring that all tools and machinery are in good working order, performing routine maintenance, and arranging for repairs when needed.
  • Health and Safety: Ensuring that all DT activities comply with health and safety regulations, including risk assessments and the safe storage of hazardous materials.
  • Assisting Teachers: Supporting DT teachers during practical lessons, helping students with their projects, and providing technical advice and guidance.
  • Organising Workshops: Setting up and organizing workshop spaces for practical lessons, ensuring they are clean, safe, and well-equipped.
  • Stock Control: Keeping track of materials and equipment, ordering supplies as needed, and maintaining an inventory of DT resources.
  • Administrative Tasks: Completing administrative tasks related to the DT department, such as recording equipment usage and maintaining records of health and safety checks.
  • Technology Integration: Assisting with the integration of technology into DT projects, such as using CAD/CAM software and 3D printers.
  • Collaboration: Working collaboratively with other DT technicians and teachers to ensure the smooth running of the DT department.
