Your responsibilities are to:-

1. To actively pursue the settlement of debts, as directed by the Finance Manager/Deputy Finance Manager/Office Manager, either by telephone, letter or personal visits taking care to adhere to accepted Social Care and Health practices and in accordance with the Debt Recovery Procedures.

2. Maintain an audit trail of all recovery action taken and monitor performance against target levels set.

3. Carry out debt checks where necessary.

4. Liaise with Social Workers, relatives and legal section as necessary.

5. Receipt and bank sums collected from debtors in accordance with financial instructions.

6. Negotiate acceptable instalment arrangements and monitor adherence to any such arrangement.

7. Prepare and post schedule of write offs.

8. Generate debt reports and aged debt analysis, either manually or electronically using the Authority’s Corporate System Business World.

9. Assist in the future development of debt recovery systems.

10. Give advice and guidance to debtors as necessary, appropriate to their circumstances and within Customer Care Guidelines.

11. Maintain and adhere to a work schedule for outside visits, in conjunction with the Deputy Finance Manager/Office Manager, for safety purposes.

12. Debt administration as required by supervising officer, which will include, but not exclusive to, work on Business World such as cash matching, monitor accounts for credit balances, statement generation etc.

13. Ensure that statements for all accounts with Debt balance are sent out every month to clients as an effective method of recovering debt.
