Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

To maintain the coach fleet to the highest achievable standard to ensure maximum vehicle availability, and any other legal or compliance requirements to minimise vehicle down time. Liaise with manufacturers for warranty issues, deal with customer requirements for the engineering department commercial activities.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • MOT tests and other legal or compliance requirements to minimise vehicle down-time.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations for maintenance of operators licence.
  • Liaise with Operations team to schedule maintenance down-time for minimum impact on vehicle availability.
  • Administer the vehicle defect reporting system.
  • Ensure correct keeping of all documentation, including working with the computer-based vehicle management system.
  • Undertake planned and preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Manage and undertake all vehicle servicing to manufacturers guidelines.
  • Diagnose all reported faults.
  • Maintain required level of Health & Safety for workshop and all that enter the environment.
  • Source, order parts and supplies as necessary.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Maintain down times to a minimum reporting any incidences immediately.
  • Compliance with all statutory regulations for the maintenance of the Operators licence.
  • Budgets to be adhered to when purchasing parts and supplies.

Qualifications, experience & type of individual required:

Essential:

  • Experience of providing maintenance services within a bus or coach operator.
  • Technical training from one of the leading manufacturers.
  • Ability to work on a flexible basis responding to operational demands which will involve being on-call and weekend cover.
  • Ability to take initiative with a pro-active approach and control in a pressurised environment.
  • Willing to be on-call and weekend cover

Desirable:

  • Confident IT skills with fleet maintenance software EG. Coach Manager VMS software.
  • Strong personal organisation skills.
  • PCV licence.
