ORB Recruitment have a full-time, permanent position available for an experienced Panel Wirer to join our client in Wakefield, WF2.

Our client is an industry leading manufacturer, who specialise in the design, production, and integration of control panels and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for a diverse range of industries, including manufacturing, utilities, and automation.

The Role:
As a Panel Wirer, you will play a pivotal role in the assembly and wiring of control panels and PLCs according to customer specifications and industry standards. Working within a dynamic team environment, you will be responsible for interpreting electrical schematics and engineering drawings to wire control panels and PLC cabinets accurately and efficiently. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, technical proficiency, and a dedication to delivering superior craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings to determine wiring layouts and connections for control panels and PLC cabinets.
  • Perform panel wiring tasks including mounting components, routing wires, and terminating connections in accordance with project requirements.
  • Install and connect electrical components such as relays, switches, circuit breakers, power supplies, and PLC modules.
  • Ensure the proper labelling and identification of wires, cables, and terminals to facilitate installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Conduct continuity tests and insulation resistance tests to verify the integrity of wiring installations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve wiring issues or discrepancies during assembly, working closely with engineering and technical teams as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to optimise panel designs for manufacturability, efficiency, and functionality.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Document work performed, including any modifications or deviations from standard procedures, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the testing and validation of control panels and PLCs to ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in electrical assembly preferred.
  • Proven experience as a panel wirer or similar role, with specific experience in wiring control panels and PLC cabinets.
  • Proficiency in interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings related to control systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles, wiring techniques, and industry standards (e.g., NEC, UL, CE).
  • Experience with hand and power tools commonly used in panel wiring, including wire strippers, crimpers, screwdrivers, and power drills.
  • Familiarity with PLC hardware and programming concepts is advantageous but not required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in workmanship, with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and project requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Commitment to following safety protocols and guidelines at all times.

Benefits:
