We are in search of a committed SEN teaching assistant ready to provide assistance to children in both KS1 and KS2. At Randstad, we streamline roles by understanding your background and preferences, ensuring alignment with our client's needs. After joining us a dedicated consultant will address your inquiries, maintaining consistent communication to guide you through the search for your ideal role and beyond. Your responsibilities will involve working with children primarily in specialised schools located in the Wakefield region.

The school is proactive in employing different approaches to assist children within the classroom, to ensure educational and personal development. Their aim is to address the evolving challenges that learners, families, staff, and communities encounter.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding children's personal and educational information.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, as needed to provide holistic support.
  • Be prepared to handle crisis situations, such as meltdowns or behavioural challenges, in a calm and professional manner.
  • Advocate for the needs and rights of children with SEN, ensuring they receive the appropriate resources and accommodations.
  • Assist in teaching essential life skills, such as time management, organisation, and self-advocacy, to prepare children for post-school life.

Requirements:

  • Solid familiarity with the national Key Stage Curriculum.
  • Proficiency in various teaching techniques suitable for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Thorough comprehension of child development and the learning process.
  • Strong commitment to cultivating positive connections with children and comprehending their requirements.
  • Capacity to offer personalised attention, encouragement, and assistance with learning assignments.
  • Either possessing an Enhanced DBS check or being prepared to obtain one through Randstad.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship.
