Berry Recruitment is hiring! We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Team Leader/Senior Finisher to join our client's team in South Oxfordshire.

As a Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the finishing process of our products while leading a team of specialists in our Composites Department.

The Team Leader role requires a "hands-on" approach to lead the teams (10 direct reports) responsible for the finish of manufactured products in the marine industry. You will oversee all aspects of the finishing process, manage team performance and offline metrics, and collaborate with stakeholders to optimize workflow and efficiency.

About the role of the Team Leader/Senior Finisher:

  • Manage and motivate a 10-person team of boat finishing specialists, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality output.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, monitor performance, and provide constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement. Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, promoting open communication and problem-solving.
  • Oversee all stages of the finishing process, from material procurement to final inspection, ensuring adherence to quality standards and deadlines.
  • Participate in project planning meetings, providing insights and recommendations from the finishing team perspective.
  • Proactively address any concerns or issues raised by stakeholders, finding solutions that benefit all parties involved.
  • Generate and present reports to management highlighting areas for improvement and demonstrating team progress.
  • Track and analyse offline production data, identifying areas for improvement and cost optimization.
  • Implement data-driven initiatives to enhance team efficiency and project profitability.
  • Reports to Composite Manager but will partner closely with Logistics and other stakeholder managers to ensure smooth material flow and project alignment.
  • Proactively address interdepartmental concerns and negotiate solutions collaboratively.

About you;

  • Gel Coat repair and finishing. Process control experience. Team management experience in a similar working environment advantageous.
  • Experience in repairing bodywork & parts in the automotive or marine industry, including tasks such as checking for indentations, reviewing the shell of a car, or conducting similar assessments on marine vessels.
  • Strong understanding of boat construction and finishing processes would be of advantage, however automotive background or similar roles would be considered.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with a focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with effective communication skills.
  • A collaborative and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
