ASD Learning Support Assistant

Empowering Learning are looking for a Primary or Secondary Teaching Assistants to support in SEND schools in the Walsall area. The candidate will be supporting learners with need varying needs such as ASC, ADHD, PMLD and other additional needs.

Experience working in a school setting is not essential, just a natural affinity with children and a willingness to learn and adapt.

The ideal candidate will

  • Have experience working with young people.
  • Be highly organised with excellent communication skills.
  • Have a desire to work with, inspire and support children.
  • Have well developed behaviour management skills and techniques.
  • Have experience supporting children with additional needs.
  • Have knowledge of Makaton, Team Teach or Positive Behaviour Reinforcement Strategies. (Desirable but not essential)

Main Role Responsibility:

  • Supporting the Class Teacher and other support staff in the day to day running of the class.
  • Supporting children during lesson and school activities.
  • Managing difficult behaviours.
  • Delivering 1:1 or small group activities and interventions.
  • Collecting evidence of children's work to support their assessment.
