Buyer

Our client is a leading provider of drylining and suspended ceiling solutions, specialising in high-quality projects for commercial, residential, and industrial clients.

Due to growth of the business, our client is seeking a skilled Buyer to join their team and contribute to their procurement operations. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working for a subcontractor within the construction industry, ideally with a strong understanding of drylining and suspended ceiling materials and suppliers.

*Junior candidates will also be considered.

Position Overview - Buyer

• Source and procure materials, supplies, and equipment required for refurbishment projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project schedules.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating pricing, terms, and contracts to secure favourable arrangements and cost savings.
• Collaborate with project managers and estimators to understand project requirements and ensure accurate and timely procurement of materials.
• Evaluate supplier performance, including quality, reliability, and responsiveness, and address any issues or concerns as needed.
• Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and new product offerings to make informed purchasing decisions and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Assist in the development and implementation of procurement strategies and policies to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.

Position Requirements - Buyer

• Previous experience working for a subcontractor in the construction industry - drylining/suspended ceiling experience would be a plus.
• Proven track record in procurement, with strong negotiation skills and the ability to secure competitive pricing and favourable terms.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
