FILM AND SMART SURFACE SOLUTIONS (FSSS)

Our newest division capitalizes on emerging trends in displays and in-mold electronics in the automotive industry. It combines our extensive offering of speciality films for the industrial and automotive industries with our developing portfolio of conductive and non-conductive inks. The combination of these products allow us to create a formed, structurally rigid three dimensional part that’s decorative with circuit pathways and enhanced electronic features to enable the human-machine interface in an automobile.

Job Purpose

The Technical Support Engineer will be responsible for developing technical knowledge for product and process evaluation, material testing and characterization. In addition, the Technical Support Engineer will provide technical and laboratory support to external and internal requests for Film & Smart Surface Solutions business.

As a key member of the Film and Smart Surface Solutions (F&SSS) Team, the Technical Support Engineer will be responsible for product testing activities, developing applications knowhow for product evaluation, material testing and characterization. In addition, will build knowledge and understanding of internal and external specifications and processes to provide technical support to global customers and colleagues.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure that Company ISO, Health, Safety and Environmental policies are fully implemented during all activities.
  • With minimal oversight, works to provide technical and laboratory support to external and internal requests.
  • Develop a full understanding of the FIM process, including being fully certified to use all equipment involved in this process.
  • Investigate, experiment, and ensure product performance is appropriate for projects and applications, and provide data in reports to help optimize customers processes.
  • Report project progress, publish technical reports and make presentations as needed.
  • Develop knowledge, understanding and conduct OEM specification testing to support ongoing and future projects.
  • Support complaints investigation (as defined in Complaints Monitor Work Instruction Documents) using problem solving techniques like Ishikawa and 8D to identify root cause. Communicate outcomes to the customer and initiate corrective actions.
  • Work across functional lines with quality and production to support quality release testing and complaint investigations.
  • Calibrate, research and test equipment to ensure dependable research results.
  • Maintain a clean tidy working environment.
Requirements & Qualifications

The role would suit candidates from a variety of different backgrounds. Practical work experience within the automotive industry in a production environment would be advantageous, along with experience within a quality orientated role.

We are open to applications from recent graduates interested in starting a career in the films and electronics industry. Relevant degree subjects would be materials science or electronic engineering, additional knowledge of plastics or printed electronics would be highly beneficial.
