Are you a results driven Procurement Business Partner? I am working on an exclusive basis with my client to join their procurement and supply chain organisation; to be accountable for developing and embedding procurement strategies in conjunction with other functions, for delivering total cost of ownership requirements, partnering with key suppliers in target category areas, leading strategic category procurement (sourcing) related activities, and ensuring responsibility for sourcing is managed directly through the sourcing team and indirectly across other colleagues.

S/he would also lead the management of accreditation procedures of overall supply chain and supplier performance management procedures, ensuring cost/quality requirements are met and for operational delivery through an outsourcing model for key categories of spend.

While this role directly manages an Assistant Buyer who supports the overall procurement strategy deliverables, s/he would liaise closely with the neighbouring logistics team in ensuring the drafting of competent requests for quotations, integrating purchase ordering processes into framework agreements, developing budgets, and setting savings targets.

Main Responsibilities

Member of the Head of Commercial and Procurement senior management team

  • Business Partner who supports the business to drive current and future results sustainably and with high quality
  • The leadership, development, and management of the team through the employment lifecycle
  • Leading supply chain development strategies, and managing strategic business critical outsourced activities, under a supplier relationship management model
  • Ensure that the team is appropriately resourced, informed, motivated, and trained to meet business objectives
  • Managing procurement and tender activity, and managing the full end to end procurement process for key categories of spend (e.g., fleet, tools)
  • Custodian of procurement, tendering and supplier performance procedures
  • Developing smarter purchase to pay processes for high volume, low value activities
  • Supporting the Assistant Buyer with managing indirect purchases through smart online ordering and payment processes; including administration of Virtual Card Payments with Bank partners
  • Ensuring all materials are purchased in line with framework agreements, to specification, and at the best price
  • Initiating and supporting on-going cost cutting initiatives
  • Set up and maintain effective management tools, volume report, savings, and performance measurement
  • Support with Budgeting and forecasting of procurement savings plans and benefits tracking on the in-house system
  • Oversight and administration of Supplier Rebates - agreements, tracking and realisation
  • Identifying new and alternative sources of supply for products and making recommendations to management
  • Negotiating with suppliers and building long term relationships
  • Supporting supplier accreditation strategy planning and liaising with Logistics team regarding vendor accreditation integration with P2P activities
  • Conduct market research as required; identify and evaluate potential suppliers for local needs
  • Understanding both price and quality needs, including developing ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) strategies in tenders to develop long term frameworks, helping meet net zero requirements.
  • Participate in development and implementation of new Procurement Tools.

Experience and Qualifications Required.

  • Demonstrated track record of success in supporting complex commercial procurements
  • Worked within a complex multi-national business with a commercial background
  • Experience with procurement management tools and risk analysis
  • Experience researching new suppliers / categories and making recommendations to the buyer.
  • Preparing budgets and forecasting purchasing trends
  • Compile reports on supplier performance and statistics.
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Qualifications in procurement, business, economics, marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Working to or achieved a Higher National Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and Supply, Purchasing and Logistics, Business Studies, Supply Chain Management, or Marketing
