NLB Solutions are working with a large business in Watford that are looking for an ACA qualified individual that has an audit background and managed a team with the financial reporting field. The business need someone that is immediately available and commit to a contract that will run to the end of July 2025 to help cover a maternity leave. The role will support the team of 3 that are within the company.

The role will report into the Finance Director and ideally start within the next month and have a handover that will last for 2 months. The business offer, hybrid working and parking when in the office. With newly refurbished offices and projects happening to improve processes, the company are forward thinking and looking for someone with a similar mindset.

Duties:

  • Lead Financial Reporting, Tax and Treasury function to deliver transformational change across the group.
  • Responsible for statutory accounts (including liaising with external auditors), taxation (including VAT), treasury management (including cash flow forecasting and covenant reporting), fixed assets and intercompany.
  • Ensure that the financial information at a sub-ledger level is recorded and reported accurately and reconciliations performed on time.
  • Build strong and trusting relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, Ensure 100% compliance on statutory accounts and tax reporting.
  • Statutory audits completed within 4 months of the year end, and all corporate tax and VAT compliance completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Accurate 12 month rolling cash flow forecast produced on a weekly basis.
  • All cash, fixed asset, tax and intercompany balance sheet account reconciliations produced and reviewed monthly in line with strict reporting timetable.
  • Strong and trusting relationships established with all key stakeholders, including finance team, internal Heads of Department, HMRC, external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Opportunities for transformational change across the wider finance team identified and/or implemented.
  • Lead Financial Reporting function, providing coaching, support and challenge to enable direct report's development in line with organisational goals.
  • Drive transformational change in Financial Reporting and Treasury functions through streamlining systems and processes.
  • Primary responsibility for treasury management (including cash flow forecasting and covenant reporting), external audit and taxation (including compliance and reporting).
  • Ensure that subledgers relating cash, fixed assets, tax and intercompany are maintained accurately to facilitate strict month end reporting cycle.
  • Responsibility for balance sheet control ensuring 100% compliance of balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Build meaningful relationships with all key stakeholders, and in particular, the Director of Financial Reporting and Control, CFO, internal Heads of Department, HMRC, external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance of internal controls.
  • Keep abreast of UK accounting and taxation legislation enabling the group to remain fully compliant in respective areas.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, effectively present ideas and turn them into practical actions.
  • Lead initiatives on continuous improvement of Financial Reporting and support wider group goals and initiatives.

Person Spec:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA or equivalent).
  • Strong technical accounting and taxation skills.
  • Keen eye for detail with an ability to work to strict deadlines.
  • Ability to lead teams and drive transformational change.
  • Good communicator, building meaningful relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Team player with an ability to contribute to wider group goals.
  • Ability to bring a commercial outlook to the role such that deliverables add value and insight to the business.
  • Self starter with a strong desire for personal development.
  • Experience of operating in a similar role and in particular, leading transformational change to deliver commercial outcomes.
