My client is actively seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Needs Teaching Assistant (TA) with experience in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is your opportunity to contribute positively to a learning environment that values inclusivity and resilience.

Role Overview:

As a Special Needs TA specializing in SEMH, you will provide essential support in a classroom setting to students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Your role will be pivotal in assisting these students to engage effectively with their learning and development activities, ensuring they feel supported and valued.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with lead teachers to implement educational plans tailored to meet the needs of SEMH students.
  • Provide emotional and practical support to students, helping to manage behavior and promote positive classroom engagement.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behavioural plans.
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and families to support student success.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers to help adapt learning strategies as needed.

We're Looking For Someone Who Has:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, with specific experience working with SEMH students.
  • Understanding of the strategies needed to manage challenging behaviors positively and effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • A patient, caring, and resilient nature, with a genuine passion for supporting special educational needs.
