Job Type: Permanent, Full-time


Location: Wellingborough, some Hybrid working available


Hours: 9am- 5.30pm, Monday to Friday


Salary: 70,000 - 80,000 per annum, depending on experience + Car allowance + Benefits


The Role:


We are working with a leading engineering firm specialising in the design, development, and implementation of steel structures. With a focus on innovation and cutting-edge technology, my client provides expert services to clients across various industries, including oil + gas, healthcare, supply chain, and more. They are looking for a Principal Engineer that can bring enthusiasm of steelwork to the team, as well as exceptional engineering management.


Responsibilities:
  • Managing engineering projects, including resource planning, programming, design review, and ensuring timely and within-budget deliverables.
  • Acting as a technical liaison with clients.
  • Collaborating within a team of Engineers and CAD Technicians in compliance with Company Management Systems (ISO9001, ISO45001, and ISO14001).
  • Mentoring and reviewing the work of Engineers and CAD Technicians.
  • Creating conceptual and detailed designs for construction methods and temporary structures, particularly in steel to Eurocode standards.
  • Reviewing structural analysis using computer programs such as STAAD Pro and LUSAS.
  • Preparing design calculations using Microsoft Excel or manual methods.
  • Creating sketches and drawings manually or using Autodesk AutoCAD and/or Inventor.
  • Overseeing the CAD team to produce 3-D models, general arrangement (GA) drawings, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Compiling technical documentation, including project design statements, designer's risk assessments, and engineering method statements.
  • Developing tender designs and estimates for projects.


Skills Required:
  • Master's Degree in a relevant subject.
  • Structural Engineering experience with Steel infrastructure, ideally long span bridges.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO45001 and ISO14001 and experience in company management systems if preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of Eurocode design basis.
  • Excellent problem solving, presentation and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Knowledge in the use of CAD packages (Autodesk AutoCAD and/or Inventor).
