Owen Payne Recruitment are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Technician to join a leading Steel manufacturing client on a permanent basis located the Smethwick area.

Due to the nature of this role, previous experience as a Manufacturing Technician is essential.

Duties of a Manufacturing Technician:

  • Set production equipment safely and efficiently
  • Control production processes to set tolerances
  • Set, load and feed coil
  • Set roll feed and leveller, if required within production base/division
  • Identify and understand when to change Ultra steel gearing
  • Set distance points between rolls and strip guides, according to specifications
  • Install equipment such as guides, guards, gears, cooling equipment, and rolls, using hand tools
  • Carry out fault finding on automation lines
  • Ensure oil is at right level, adjust valves, and observe gauges to control flow of metal coolants and lubricants
  • Observe gauges/indicators to make sure machines are working properly
  • Ensure production paperwork is correctly completed
  • Complete quality checks
  • Ensure product is manufactured to drawing spec/customer requirements
  • Complete documentation, including correct product labelling
  • Carry out routine maintenance, including tool care, and determine when and what kind of maintenance is required
  • Any other duties within the capability of the job holder

Hours of work:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 06:00-14:00

Salary:

  • Starting from £27,200 pa (DOE)
