Streamline Search is currently working with an award-winning passenger transport company that specializes in coach holidays, home-to-school transport, and local community transport. Due to ongoing success and business growth, our client is looking to expand their transport team by adding a positive and self-motivated Transport Scheduler/Planner to their dynamic and fun team.

As the Transport Planner, you will be responsible for liaising with customers, speaking with drivers both on the phone and face-to-face, and assisting with planning routes while providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have experience in a transport role and knowledge of drivers' hours.

Transport Scheduler / Planner - Position Remuneration

  • Salary: 30,000 - 33,000 (Dependent on experience) with a 3-month review for potential salary increase.
  • Monday - Friday, 07:00 - 17:00
  • 28 days holiday, including bank holidays.
  • 1 in 3 Saturday mornings, occasionally required to take a phone home on weekdays and weekends.

Transport Scheduler / Planner - Position Overview

  • Develop and optimize routes and schedules for passenger transport services, ensuring efficiency and adherence to timetables.
  • Oversee the allocation and management of the vehicle fleet, ensuring all vehicles are maintained, serviced, and available as required.
  • Ensure all transport operations comply with relevant regulations and safety standards. Conduct regular safety audits and implement necessary changes.
  • Coordinate with drivers, support staff, and other departments to ensure smooth operations. Manage driver rosters and ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Address and resolve any customer complaints or issues related to transport services. Monitor and improve customer satisfaction levels.
  • Analyze transport data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. Prepare regular reports for management.
  • Monitor and manage transport-related costs, including fuel, maintenance, and staffing expenses. Identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop and implement contingency plans for emergencies, such as vehicle breakdowns or traffic disruptions, to minimize service disruptions.
  • Use transport management software and other technologies to enhance scheduling, tracking, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Liaise with government agencies, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and address any regulatory or community concerns.

Transport Scheduler / Planner - Position Requirements

  • Previous experience in transport planning, scheduling, or a related field, preferably within the passenger transport sector.
  • Understanding of passenger transport operations, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimize routes and schedules.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address and resolve operational issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for liaising with staff, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, schedules, and resources effectively.
