Learning Support Assisant

Contract Type: Full Time.

Hours: 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience.

About Us:

At our dedicated team comprises experts from diverse disciplines, including leaders, carers, therapists, and educationalists, working harmoniously together. Our mission is to provide exemplary teaching and proactive support to pupils who have faced adverse childhood experiences, such as trauma, toxic stress, and associated mental wellbeing difficulties, with the goal of breaking the cycle of adversity. Additionally, we welcome children and young people who may be challenged by conditions like attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia, dyspraxia, or moderate and specific learning difficulties.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SEN Coordinator to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with SEN.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students during class activities and assist with their personal development.
  • Adapt and modify learning materials to meet the specific needs of individual students.
  • Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere within the classroom, promoting inclusivity and understanding.
  • Help manage behaviour and provide encouragement to motivate students to achieve their full potential.
  • Assist students with personal care and ensure their safety and well-being throughout the school day.
  • Collaborate with other staff members and parents to create a holistic support network for each student.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is preferred but not essential.
  • A patient, compassionate, and empathetic approach to working with young learners.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the varying needs of students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in supporting students with SEN is an advantage.
