My client in Maidenhead is currently in need of a Senior Electronics Engineer due to expansion.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

This role involves a diverse range of design, development, and testing tasks for a talented, flexible, and passionate engineer with experience in electronics, and electrical design plus development leading to manufacture. This person must embrace the challenge of producing outstanding results on his/her own while guiding and mentoring more junior engineers.

As Senior Electronics Engineer you would be involved in all aspects of vehicle development, from design through to production. You may also have responsibility for managing electrical/electronic equipment suppliers for the development of the UAV platform.

Full time role for an immediate start.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.

Please note: This is not a suitable role for a graduate engineer with no work experience. This is also a very hands-on role, using bench equipment and working with our vehicles, customer hardware, and with other team members - as such, this role is a full-time office-based role.

THE OPPORTUNITY
This role offers a unique career move, as it gives the opportunity to experience the complete view of the design, development, and testing process through interaction with other engineers, suppliers, and clients.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Electronics engineering bachelor’s or advanced degree or with several years of equivalent experience

Designing, testing and integration of electronics for innovative solutions including but not limited to, power, MCU, communications, and hardware testing

Experience with microcontroller programming

Printed circuit board design and layout to minimise EMI

Strong interpersonal and well-developed communication skills (written & verbal)

DESIRABLE:

  • Integration of 3rd party sensor systems
  • Experience with PCB (Altium, OrCAD, KiCAD, etc.) and Spice simulation software
  • Experience in either C++ or Python software
  • Experience with battery management systems design and implementation
  • Experience with design and implementation of the electronics health check systems
  • Understanding of general software development processes
  • Experience with robotics or unmanned aerial systems
  • Experience with low bandwidth communications protocols and suitable hardware
  • Willingness to travel within UK and overseas if required

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Acting as main point of contact for all technical issues relating to the electrical / electronic design, development, and manufacture for the UAV

Generation of innovative ideas to address technical challenges in mapping, localisation, object detection

Analysis of simulation data and real-world testing to evaluate and refine system performance

Design, build and test systems utilising both AC and DC circuits

Electronic / Electrical system design and integration for an unmanned aerial system

Development of battery management systems

Electrical / electronic design, development and build for manufacture.

Liaise with other engineers to resolve production and design issues

Design of test procedures to ensure systems meet the current standards

Interface with and manage customer expectations throughout the development process

Responsible for controlling personal workload and identifying any further resource need
