Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Help Desk 2nd Line Engineer to join a well-established software company based near Wigan. The successful candidate will join the existing team of Engineers and will provide support to users of the company's software applications.

This role requires strong technical skills, excellent customer service skills and a comprehensive understanding of the company's software products. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advice and assistance to users of the software applications and resolving any issues that may arise.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to the software
  • Diagnosing and resolving technical hardware and software issues reported by users
  • Researching and troubleshooting issues to determine the root cause and resolution
  • Documenting technical knowledge using the CRM
  • Setup and commissioning of systems
  • Testing and preparing the hardware
  • Delivering training to the end user (occasionally can be on site)

Technical & Personable Skills Required:

  • Good knowledge of hardware, such as laptops, desktop, PCs and printers
  • In-depth knowledge of software applications and IT systems
  • Experience of using remotely control tools
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
  • Willing to learn, self-motivated, highly organised

Desirable Technologies (Not essential):

  • SQL and PHP Knowledge (or any other scripting languages)
  • Time attendance / Workforce Management Software experience
  • Door access systems
  • Driving Licence
