About the Role

Reed Practice is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a reputable accounting firm based in Winchester. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Service Charge Accountant to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced accounting professional with a background in property or service charge accounting to take the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities

As a Service Charge Accountant, your duties will include:

  • Preparing and reviewing residential and commercial service charge accounts in accordance with lease agreements and industry standards.
  • Reconciling service charge income and expenditure.
  • Liaising with property managers, landlords, and tenants to resolve queries and provide financial clarity.
  • Ensuring compliance with RICS and ARMA guidelines.
  • Producing year-end accounts and supporting documentation for audit.
  • Managing budgets and forecasts for service charge funds.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring timely reporting.
  • Supporting junior team members and assisting with process improvements.
Candidate Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Experience in service charge accounting (residential or commercial).
  • Strong knowledge of leasehold accounting principles and relevant legislation.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Qube, MRI, or similar property management systems).
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • AAT qualification or part-qualified ACCA (desirable but not essential).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
