My client is a specialist Private Client practice with particular emphasis on non-contentious residential and commercial Property transactions. They're located centrally in Winchester and have occupied their building for well over 100 years. They offer a family friendly environment, as you would expect with a smaller firm. There are presently 5 partners that take the lead with generating consistently high-quality work and a further team of lawyers and support staff. Staff retention is very high, this is a happy firm where people enjoy their work.
Work within the property team is fluid and client led with a focus on servicing an established client base that often involves investors with big property portfolios. Partners work on both Commercial and Residential transactional work and their is an opportunity for you to train and develop your practice in this way if you wish to do so.
Fee earners in the property department typically work on a caseload of 20-25 files initially with transactions averaging around 1m, as such the firm can charge well in order to justify delivering an excellent client experience. This is a long way from volume conveyancing, and you will be required to manage clients' expectations and the transaction from initial instruction until completion.
Due to sheer volume of work, and to ensure that service standards are maintained, the firm are seeking to employ either a specialist Residential Property Lawyer or, alternatively, a lawyer able to conduct both Residential and Commercial transactions would be considered.
This role offers the very real prospect of equity partnership within an early time frame, and this can be discussed during the interview process.
Consequently, and to be successful you will likely have several years PQE and demonstrative expertise in managing high quality transactions from start to finish.
