Job description

Are you an experienced Service Manager within the HGV or commercial vehicle industry? Would you like to work for a business that not only has over 100 years under its belt but is also the largest of it's kind in the UK?

Our client is looking for a well seasoned Service Manager to head up their service department at their newly opened site in Wolverhampton. With direct management and supervision of 10 technicians, 3 apprentices and 4 service advisors and administrators, this is not a job for the faint hearted! It requires unrivalled commercial acumen, excellent leadership skills and superb communication skills to confidently influence at all levels within the business. Service Manager Job Summary

  • Permanent
  • Salary negotiable and will depend on experience
  • Hours of work: Monday to Friday - 08:00 to 17:30 (45 hours per week)
  • Location: Bushbury, Wolverhampton

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all Service Department procedures with the aid of Workshop Controller
  • Fully support the Workshop Controller, in their daily routine and take control of any ongoing issues or escalations
  • Ensure all clock cards are reconciled each day for the admin department.
  • Ensure service reception and workshop control manage planned events including MOT bookings, PMI’s and services including workshop loading
  • Take full control of the WIP on a daily basis to ensure that every effort is made to ensure the WIP is kept under the KPI levels, questioning all old jobs to ensure prompt close down
  • Review all warranty jobs to ensure coded and fully compliant to the manufacture warranty standards before sending for costing.
  • Dealing with customer queries and or complaints in a timely manner
  • Managing, coaching and motivating employees to ensure that targets and business objectives are met.
  • Management of the service department budget
  • Take overall responsibility for depot including H&S, housekeeping, alarms and fire tests etc

Service Manager - Person Criteria

  • You must have a solid technical background in the HGV service sector to be considered for this role (essential)
  • Able to communicate well with customers and colleagues alike via phone, email and face to face
  • Organised with a solution focused mindset
  • Works well under pressure and in a time sensitive environment
  • Experience of working at a similar level within the commercial vehicle industry
