Support Worker for children with Autism  

Full-Time

£83- £85 Day (salary is depending on experience and/or qualifications)

The School and Role 

The school caters for children with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition, additionally supporting Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs associated with this primary diagnosis. The school provides a supportive and nurturing environment, focusing on the holistic development of their students. Many students will have had adverse experiences within mainstream settings, the schools therapeutic approach creates a safe environment for students to grow in confidence. 

Your role within the school will be to work on a one-to-one basis with students, you will be using positive reinforcement and a personalised approach to develop their academic and social skills. The small class sizes allow for more targeted support, you will be expected to work as a team with the classroom teacher and other supportive members of the class. On an individual basis, you will be expected to take a proactive approach to your work, this means making key decisions about how to best support the child you are working with. Your aim is to develop students' confidence and build their academic and social skill sets.  

The desired support worker will have;  

  • A Minimum of 1-year experience of working with people with Autism Spectrum Condition.  

  • A DBS on the update service, or willingness to undergo a DBS Check.  

  • If you have lived/worked outside of the United Kingdom within the last 5 years you will need to provide an Overseas Police Check. 

  • A passion for supporting and caring for young people with physical and learning disabilities.  

  • An Ability to work individually and take a proactive approach to student care and learning.  

  • Knowledge of trauma informed practice would be desirable.
