We're actively searching for a Qualified NDE Technician to join Engineering team based in Woodbridge, Suffolk.The NDE Technician will conduct Liquid Penetrant Inspection and Magnetic Particle Inspection on castings and welds to identify surface and subsurface defects. It's essential for the technician to be ideally qualified to Level 2 standards, ensuring adherence to UK regulations and maintaining high-quality and reliable testing procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform Liquid Penetrant Inspection and Magnetic Particle Inspection on castings and welds according to established procedures and specifications.
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Interpret and evaluate testing results to identify defects, discontinuities, or irregularities.
  • Document testing procedures, results, and observations in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations during testing procedures to ensure the well-being of personnel and equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to analyse testing results and recommend corrective actions if necessary.
  • Maintain testing equipment, ensuring proper functioning and calibration.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of NDE techniques and procedures.
  • Stay updated with advancements in NDE technology, industry standards, and UK regulations.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior technicians as needed.

Qualifications:
  • GCSEs or equivalent in technical subjects; additional technical education or certification in non-destructive testing is preferred.
  • Proven experience in performing LPI and MPI in an industrial setting.
  • Strong understanding of NDE principles, techniques, and procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical ability to perform testing duties, including working in confined spaces or at heights.
  • Willingness to undergo additional training and certifications as required by the company or regulatory authorities.
