My client is seeking a dedicated Technician to join their team in Worcester. 

The role involves preparing and calibrating hardness machine test blocks, assisting the laboratory manager, and ensuring efficient operation within the calibration laboratory.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

Perform daily checks on all calibration equipment and accurately record results.

  • Manage stock of raw materials against incoming orders.

  • Prepare steel, aluminium, and brass test blocks.

  • Communicate with sales to advise on estimated delivery dates for incoming orders.

  • Physically move test blocks between work processing areas for picking, calibration, engraving, and packing.

  • Operate Rockwell, Vickers, Brinell, and other reference calibration equipment.

  • Record and calculate results, assign certificate numbers, and print.

  • Use optical equipment to calculate indent size and test block hardness, record results, and process certification.

  • Use a laser engraver to mark test blocks with serial numbers, values, ranges, and tolerances.

  • Create test certificates with serial numbers, dates, and measurement information, and pack with the product.

  • Pack products in corrosion protection bags and prepare for shipping with certificates and sales documentation.

  • Ensure all activities comply with Indentec’s UKAS accreditation standards.

  • Maintain orderly records of test block calibration, including calibration, rejects, and certificate numbers.

  • Prepare and report laboratory KPI data throughput.

  • Perform other duties as requested within the scope of calibration.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience operating Rockwell, Vickers, and Brinell calibration equipment. (full training will be given) 
  • Ability to observe and operate within laboratory best practices.
  • Good IT skills, proficient in creating and maintaining spreadsheets.
