Key Duties:
- Lead and support a team of residential care staff, ensuring safe and consistent care practices at all times
- Assist the Registered Manager with daily operations and overall care delivery
- Oversee the implementation of care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies
- Coordinate and delegate tasks effectively during shifts
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and domestic routines in the home
- Participate in and encourage team engagement in recreational activities with young people (e.g. swimming, walking, games)
- Attend and contribute to meetings, reviews, and staff supervision
- Administer medication and ensure accurate documentation
- Undertake sleep-in duties as required
- Lead by example, promoting professionalism and positive role modelling
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong, appropriate relationships with young people
- Foster ongoing communication and cooperation with families and external professionals (e.g. social workers, therapists)
- Take a proactive role in policy development, service improvement, and team performance
- Support key workers and take on key working responsibilities where appropriate
- Respond calmly and safely to challenging behaviour, including physical interventions when necessary
- Ensure high standards of documentation, care planning, and safeguarding at all times
- Support team development and training through mentoring and supervision
