A fantastic graduate role has come available which will give you unrivalled experience and design exposure in a brand new Highways team where you'd report straight to the Highways Lead of a 6 office consultancy in Yorkshire!

As a Graduate Highways Engineer in this role, it will be your responsibility to design an array of highways projects using Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, CAD and KEYSign/KeyLign. You will get the opportunity to work on Roundabout design, junction improvements, Active Travel Projects, A Road Duallings and even, at times be helping the civil infrastructure teams on infrastructure design.

You will be given full training on these software's and be guided technically by senior members of the team as you get to grips with DMRB and the Local Authority codes and practices. This role is with one of the largest SME's in Yorkshire and is truly different to the majority of graduate roles on exposure alone.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • You will undertake the feasibility studies, conceptual, preliminary and detailed design, procurement and supervision of the construction of a range of civil engineering and highway projects using Civil 3D, CAD, KEYSign/KEYLign.
  • You will have a working knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation, standards and procedures. Possess an extensive working knowledge of standard highway and civil engineering specifications, conditions of contract and methods of measurement.
  • You will be required to liaise with Clients, Stakeholders, and the public on projects.
  • You will be able to demonstrate recent experience in the following:
  • The ability to deal appropriately and effectively with external organisations statutory bodies and clients;
  • Undertaking feasibility studies including preparing reports, cost estimate investigating problems, and identifying of options;
  • Working knowledge of the relevant legislation and guidelines including the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, British and European Standards, Eurocodes and Codes of Practice;
  • To demonstrate initiative and ingenuity in solving engineering problems;
  • Working capability to use AutoCAD software in the preparation of designs and drawings.


Qualifications

  • Graduate - MEng (Hons)/ BEng (Hons) / BSc Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
