About the Role:
GSL Education are looking to appoint an outstanding Qualified Teacher of Food Technology to join our hugely successful Design Department on a one-year, fixed term contract starting in September 2024. This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented, dynamic, and ambitious Early Career Teacher (ECT) or experienced professional.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Teach Food Technology across a range of age groups and abilities.
  • Foster the learning and progress of pupils by being an effective teacher of both the subject and the students.
  • Ensure quality preparation, resourcing, and planning for lessons to maximise student engagement and understanding.
  • Use subject expertise, teaching skill, and proactive classroom management to maintain high standards and create a conducive learning environment.
  • Implement effective marking and assessment strategies to provide feedback and support student development.
  • Set high expectations and maintain positive personal relationships with students to encourage their personal skills, abilities, understanding, learning, and progress.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, parent conferences, and school training events.

The Successful Applicant Must:

  • Be passionate and committed to improving teaching and learning.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and presentational skills.
  • Be receptive to change and have the ability to work under pressure.
  • Be able to work well as part of a welcoming, hard-working, and committed team.
  • Maximise the potential of students of all abilities.
  • Have a current hygiene certificate in catering.
  • Experience of teaching Health & Social Care would be an advantage, although this is not essential.
