Job Summary

As Gastroenterology Technician 2, you work under clinical oversight and perform examinations and procedures proficiently. You also guide fellow technicians to ensure procedures meet standards. You oversee teammates cleaning and sterilizing equipment. Your role helps maintain a safe healthcare environment.

What You'll Do

  • Help with procedures not needing sedation, making sure patients are informed, answering questions about the process.
  • Partner with nurses and doctors during sedation procedures. Use scopes, monitor vital signs, and assist with emergencies like CPR.
  • Keep equipment clean and sanitized. Train and oversee others to ensure quality control during gastrointestinal procedures.
  • Assist in the recovery room by monitoring and noting patient physiological data. Additionally, you'll prepare specimen slides for lab investigation.
  • Make sure technicians follow standards. Give feedback and train new technicians.
  • Partner with Clinical Nurses in documenting required data during patient admission and discharge in the GI Lab.
  • Order supplies, get supervisor approval, and communicate with vendors for timely delivery.
  • Monitor equipment, create quality reports.
  • Manage maintenance schedules and installation.

Qualifications

  • You should have at least a high school diploma or a GED certification.
  • You should bring with you at least (3) three years of relevant work experience.
  • You need a Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate or willingness to get one within 30 days.
