Systems Administrator – Field Network

Penske Logistics is looking for a Systems Administrator – Field Operations to join their team. This position will be an essential part of a highly dynamic IT organization that supports a rapidly expanding business. As a Systems Administrator at Penske Logistics, you'll have plenty of opportunities to work with new technologies and interact with business partners and customers to recommend and provide solutions.

This is a technical position, requires travel (up to 50%) as needed depending on business opportunities. Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of a Systems Administrator Field Operations is to provide day-to-day installation and support/troubleshooting for the Company's Wide Area (WAN), Local Area (LAN), and Desktop/Laptop/Printer and UPS environments at Penske Logistics (PL) locations. This position will conduct wireless site surveys to provide data on wireless network performance and identify areas of concern. This position requires lift certification as much work will be done with Access Points and IDF cabinets that are ceiling mounted at PL locations. The Systems Administrator Field Operations is responsible for installing and troubleshooting the networks at PL locations. This includes troubleshooting the same environments including MDFs, IDFs, routers, switches, cabling, and computer peripherals. Must be able to lift 50Lbs. A System Administrator - Field Operations will work on a variety of projects with department or division-wide implications and impacts. Such efforts will necessitate cross-functional collaboration with IT groups. The Systems Administrator – Field Operations is required to follow network diagrams, project plans and instructions as well as coordinating activities on site, with vendors and the customer. The ability to participate in after-hours and weekend activities is required. This position will be interfacing with IT and Operations leadership on a regular basis and must always exhibit professionalism.

Major Responsibilities:

Technology:

Installation and troubleshooting of Network infrastructure components: Routers, Switches, APs, Desktops, Laptops, Timeclocks, Printers, Scanners, etc. both wired and wireless.

Identifying and resolving location network connectivity or performance issues.

Conducting wireless site surveys and generating a professional, customer report showing how well the wireless network is performing.

Project Management:

Identify, recommend, and implement solutions to meet the needs of customers.

Participate in projects as needed from identification to implementation and ongoing system/solution support.

Analytics:

Analyze system/software performance and adjust network specifications based on any identified issues

Analyze network connectivity to ensure that hardware is being used to its full potential.

Perform network analysis and make recommendations for improved performance.

Customer Experience:

Regularly communicate with client groups to determine needs.

Collaborate with the customer's leadership and project team during the implementation phase.

Manage to project dates and milestones in accordance with client group expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree required; advanced degrees preferred.
  • CCNA certification or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 1 year of previous ISP experience
  • 1 + years of functional experience (including mid-to-large scale projects)

Knowledge and proficiency in the following hardware/software:

  • Cisco networking hardware (Routers, Switches, Wireless Access Points, and WLSE) - Cisco operating systems (IOS, IOS/XE, and SDWAN)
  • Access Points and Switches from Aruba Infoblox IP Management - DNS, DHCP, IPAM - Aruba Air Wave and Aruba Central
  • SolarWinds SNMP Network Monitoring/Management Toolset
  • MPLS Technologies - Implementations of Site-to-Site IPSEC VPNs
  • Knowledge of BGP and EIGRP
  • IP Addressing Methodologies
  • Tools for monitoring bandwidth and circuits (i.e. NetFlow Tracker)
  • Microsoft Office software (including Visio)

Regular, predictable, and complete attendance is a required function of the job.

Willingness to travel, work the required schedule and work at the required location.
