SUMMARY: The Locksmith is expected to perform a variety of duties related to the installation, repair, remodeling and maintenance of manual and automated locks, locking systems and security devices; computerized access control systems; door openers, closers, and hardware.
Responsibilities
- Completes corrective and preventive work orders as assigned.
- Disassembles locks such as padlocks, safe locks and door locks, and repairs or replaces worn tumblers, springs and other parts.
- Changes pin lock cylinders and safe combinations.
- Cuts keys by code or duplication.
- Maintains key and combination records.
- Fits, repairs and installs doors and related hardware.
- Installs or repairs hydraulic door closers and electronic door operators.
- Performs electronic access control diagnostics and repairs.
- Installs repairs and maintains electronic access control systems, components and hardware.
- Monitors work done by outside contractors for adherence to scope of work, and state and federal code compliance.
- Provide excellent customer service. 12. Responds to emergency situations during and after hours.
- Other similar responsibilities.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with installation and maintenance of locks, repairs etc.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to operate motor vehicles and power tools safely and effectively .
- Ability to understand specifications, blueprints, manuals and schematic drawings for installation, maintenance and repairs.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Completion of a vocational or technical program a plus
