Position Summary:
The Surgical Technician is a trained individual with advanced technical knowledge & skills in asepsis & the intraoperative phase of surgical patient care management of pediatric, adolescent, adult & geriatric patients. Based upon such expertise, the Surgical Tech is responsible for providing all the necessary instrumentation, supplies & equipment for the surgical procedure.
As a member of the surgical team, provides direct patient care under the direction & supervision of the Circulating Nurse (RN). Is responsible for meeting established OR standards for supplies & other equipment on the unit; is responsible for developing collaborative & collegial relationships with physicians & interdepartmental personnel as they relate to the care of the surgical patient. In addition to Surgical Technician duties, this position also serves as a Clinical Associate.
The Clinical Associate assists with the delivery of patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The primary responsibility will be focused on performing diagnostic, therapeutic and administrative tasks and procedures for which they have been trained and/or licensed. The Clinical Associate must demonstrate the ability and willingness to participate in a Patient Care Team as a multi-skilled caregiver responsible for quality of own work and remain flexible in response to change. This position requires a year-round commitment. Students interested in applying must be able to maintain hours throughout the year.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology. Previous surgery experience preferred. CNA preferred or equivalent experience: multi-skilled CNA Training, EKG, Phlebotomy, Simple Respiratory & Rehabilitative functions.
Certification/License:
High School Graduate or Equivalent.
Surgical Technology Certificate required
