Description:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented research associate to join the purification core group, whose primary responsibility will be inventory request fulfillment. This individual will play a critical role in supporting preclinical efforts in developing novel antibody-based therapeutics.
Principal Responsibilities:
• Fulfill protein inventory requests from LIMS request tracking system; deliver materials to requestors while maintaining good communication
• Regularly monitor and update the request queue, self-assign tasks, and document work
• Perform routine laboratory upkeep tasks including buffer preparation, consumable organization, and minor instrument maintenance
• Take on small assignments to maintain operations of the purification group including sample auditing and transferring legacy data into new data systems
Required Qualifications:
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or relevant field
• 2+ years lab experience post-associate degree or 6+ month lab experience post-baccalaureate
• Experience with basic liquid handling procedures and preparation of biological samples
• Familiarity with sterile technique and use of biological safety cabinets (BSCs)
• Excels at detail-oriented projects, has high attention to detail with strong analytical, organizational, and written/oral communication skills
• Independently and consistently completes routine tasks
• Completes more complex work under supervision
• Able to identify issues, troubleshoot, and escalate to management
• Flexible with changing priorities and assignments with supervision
• Exposure to Microsoft Excel or LIMS management system
Preferred Qualifications:
• Tracking inventory and/or requests through computer systems or excel sheets
• Hands on experience with AKTA instrumentation or protein purification
• Familiarity with purification processes, AKTA or FPLC instrumentation, HPLC/UPLC instrumentation or using Unicorn, Empower, or PMI software
• Familiarity with analytical chromatography, mass spectrometry and/or glycosylation evaluation or experience
• Use of Excel VBA macros and/or advanced functions, able to read basic code
• Basic knowledge of antibody biochemistry, understands immunological functions and systems
