Description:
Under limited supervision, conducts in-process and finished product testing to determine adherence to established specifications of quality and purity.
Essential Job Functions:
*Conduct laboratory tests and analyze data for a variety of purposes, such as production, pollution control, quality control, and minor research
*Test and analyze products such as flour, to determine if product meets plant specifications prior to release
*Release in spec vessels and report out of spec vessels
*Test and analyze production samples and report uncharacteristic results
*Document results of tests, readings, etc. in logbooks and in TLC (Total Lab Client)
*Complete certificates of analysis
*Prepare chemical solutions for use in lab
*Maintain and calibrate all lab equipment and related field instrumentation
*Maintains awareness and adheres to all FDA, GMP, TTB, USP, EPA, OSHA and employer standards and guidelines
*Support and comply with all food safety, quality, and legality requirements
*Other duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements:
*Ability to work on multiple tasks
*Good organizational skills
*Willingness to assume and learn new responsibilities
*Excellent communication skills
*Demonstrated troubleshooting skills
*Strong attention to detail
*Able to understand and comply with plant GMP and personnel practice requirements
*Computer skills to utilize lab instrument operation programs
*Demonstrated math skills to perform calculations associated with lab testing
Education/Training:
*2 or 4 year science degree is preferred, a high school diploma or GED is required
Experience:
*2 plus years of work experience in a quality assurance lab preferred
