JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a nurse in our 32-bed surgical telemetry unit, you will be focused on providing high quality, patient and family centered care. Our primary population includes patients who require cardiothoracic surgery (post-CABG, valve replacement, pulmonary surgery), vascular surgery (lower limb bypass, carotid endarterectomy, amputation), and urology (prostatectomy, bladder tumor resection, continuous bladder irrigation). In our single patient rooms, we care for a diverse range of surgical and medical services requiring a progressive level of care. Nurses will be in a 1:3-4 ratio, depending on acuity.

Our dynamic and successful interdisciplinary team is committed to a strong, team-based work ethic and is dedicated to delivering compassionate care to our patients and their families. Our RNs are encouraged and supported with continuing education (obtaining a degree, conference time, & certifications). Our nurses also have the opportunity to advance through the Clinical Advancement and Recognition Program (CARP).

EDUCATION:

Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont required. The University of Vermont Medical Center is moving toward an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce. All external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter.
