Unit description: As a Surgical/Pediatric ICU Nurse you’ll have the opportunity to treat patients with every type of trauma, including burns. Our 25-bed combination surgical and pediatric ICU is an exciting and vibrant unit to work on. We firmly value teamwork and our support system is strong and continuous. We have a low turnover rate, which speaks volumes about our staff and their willingness to work together for our patients.

We support continued education and highly endorse certification and membership in the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. We encourage participation in Critical Care conferences and we have many learning opportunities in the unit in the form of in-services and presentations. Our nurses also have the opportunity to advance through the Clinical Advancement and Recognition Program (CARP).


JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provides professional nursing care to patients in varying state of health and illness by assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing plan of care.  The Staff Nurse II functions as an essential member of nursing and multidisciplinary teams, providing direct patient care, instruction, and preparation for continuing care after discharge.  May take charge as operational need allows.

EDUCATION:

Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont is required. The University of Vermont Medical Center is moving toward an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce. All external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter.

EXPERIENCE:

Appropriate experience in specific clinical area.  Varies by unit.

Greater than one year of experience.

On-call: Not required.

Incentives: External candidates are eligible for a one-time signing bonus of $10,000 (prorated for part time roles)
