Laboratory Technician - Entry Level

Description:

• Builds and/or adapts basic setup and test equipment for performance of tests. Performs tests using general laboratory equipment. Performs routine care of designated test equipment and work area. Operates computer terminal to extract/input readily available information and to use available software. As directed follows defined test plans and datasheets. Evaluates test performance and sample operation to properly evaluate test results. Records and explains test results.
• Reads and interprets results of tests. Prepares charts, graphs and reports to explain test results. Examines test samples, reads measuring instruments and reviews test data with supervisor. Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and operational instructions. As instructed examines customer samples and learns to operate basic tests for each case. Communicates with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.
• Operates designated laboratory equipment and tools as directed.
• Receives instructions from and reports data to engineers and other laboratory technician staff. Records observed or calculated data on appropriate data sheets. Develops working knowledge of the job, methods, instrumentation, and systems.
• Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
• Run sample testing of food and physical testing of pills and capsules
• Follow SOPs to run routine sample testing
• Create detailed batch records based on testing
• Run routine testing up to 20-25 samples a day
• Utilize equipment such as pH, viscosity, micrometers, balances
• Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Associate degree in the sciences or Bachelor's degree in the sciences (Biology, microbiology, chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, marine biology, environmental science,)
• 0-2 year's experience
