Athletics - Sports MedicineJob Summary/Basic Function
Essential Functions:
- Provide athletic training services for varsity student-athletes. This includes care, prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
- -Evaluate and treat athletic injuries.
-Design and supervise rehab plans
-Preventative taping, bracing, wrapping prior to participation.
-Activate the Emergency Action Plan in the event of an emergency situation.
-Ensure safe playing conditions by monitoring severe weather. - Provide athletic training coverage for all home contests, practices, athletic training room hours and away contests as deemed necessary.
- Organize and maintain medical records including but not limited to injury evaluations, rehab programs, progress notes, doctor clearances, secondary insurance claims, etc.
- Communicate with coaches regarding the status of their athletes.
Communicate with team physicians, parents, on-campus personnel, Wellness Center staff, etc. when appropriate. - Assist in the assignment, training, and supervision of Sports Medicine Student Assistants.
- Ensure the completion of pre-participation exam paperwork, PPE by team physician and baseline concussion testing prior to participation.
- Maintain a clean and tidy medical facility
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized and well stocked medical facility
Requirements:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science or other relevant field
Additional Requirements- Licensures/Certifications/Skills
NATABOCÂ Certification
PA State Licensure or eligible
American Red Cross Professional Responder Certification or equivalent
American Red Cross Instructor preferred
Valid PA Driver's License
Must Complete ACT 153 Clearances
3-5 years work experience
*Primary sports coverage is TBD but football is a possibility based on candidate experience
