Job Summary

The Surgical Services Coordinator at Tate Surgical Center is responsible for managing various administrative tasks related to scheduling surgeries, ensuring financial documentation accuracy, coordinating patient access, and providing support to various departments within the healthcare facility.

 

COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Frye Regional Medical Center, located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina is a 355-bed acute care hospital, 81-bed Behavioral Health facility and more than 70 primary and specialty care providers.

 

Essential Functions

  • Schedule surgeries and coordinate patient admissions, including checking patients in and transferring them from pre-admit to admit on the morning of surgery.
  • Verify revenue reports and reconcile requisitions for bill-only items.
  • Pre-key patient accounts for efficient registration and billing processes.
  • Scan and organize necessary documents from medical offices and ensure proper documentation within patient records.
  • Obtain necessary documentation and signatures from patients, including consent for treatment and receipt of payments.
  • Assist patients with payments through MD Save and coordinate activation with the appropriate personnel.
  • Liaise with medical offices for orders and patient history/physicals (H/P) for upcoming surgeries.
  • Manage front desk operations, including answering phone calls, directing visitors, and assisting patient families.
  • Handle messages and consultations related to anesthesia for specific surgical procedures.
  • Coordinate surgical schedules and preference cards for operating room staff, including creation, copying, and updating as necessary.
  • Arrange for necessary equipment, such as X-rays and outside vendor services, for surgeries.
  • Monitor and maintain supplies, including ordering Staples supplies and stocking medical gases and office/facility supplies.
  • Assist with scheduling committee meetings and daily huddles for surgical services.
  • Serve as a backup for various administrative tasks, including ordering medical gases, stocking supplies, and assisting with scheduling duties.
  • Fills in for Surgical Scheduler at the Main OR when Main OR scheduler is out.
