Description:
The successful candidate will batch, prepare, and sample fermentation vessels in the lab. (S)he will also prepare stock media and chemical solutions and be responsible for various routine equipment maintenance activities in the lab. (S)he will assist in maintaining a clean and safe lab environment. Will cross train on glassware maintenance and cleaning to support overflow workload of the support services team as needed.
The successful candidate would possess:
- Strong aseptic technique skills and a general understand of basic biochemical laboratory operations (Required)
- Motivation, good interpersonal skills, and strong communication both within and between teams
- The ability to prioritize responsibilities and work effectively in a multi-tasking and matrix environment to drive results
- Hands-on experience with bench-scale fermentation and plate-based culture and assay-development methods (Plus - not required)
- Strong and effective communication skills (written, presentation and verbal)
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- AS or BS Degree in the scientific field REQUIRED
- Familiar with aseptic techniques, and basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and instruments.
- Strong written and oral communication, as well as organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently or within a team environment.
- Self-starter, highly motivated, team player with the ability to interact with co-workers inside and across departments.
- Exceptional detail record keeping and retrieval
- Proficiency in Microsoft office (word, excel, power point, access).
