Description:

The laboratory provides comprehensive testing for the detection, isolation, and identification of bacteria, mycobacteria, fungi, viruses, and parasites, with antimicrobial and antifungal susceptibility testing performed when indicated. Under general supervision and following established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines, the Microbiology Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily microbiology laboratory operations, supervising and coaching lab technicians, and monitoring daily workflow through scheduling, ordering supplies, tracking inventory, and performing quality assurance.

• Oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to established protocols and safety procedures.• Train, mentor, and supervise laboratory staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning and skill development.• Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate assay coverage.• Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary.• Monitors test results quality control measures, and proficiency testing outcomes, adeptly applying established guidelines to implement appropriate corrective actions in alignment with departmental standards.• Taking a leading role in the assessment and introduction of new instruments and procedures, while fostering collaborative evaluation and correlation efforts.• Responsible for scheduling, quality assurance, inventory and ordering supplies.• All other duties assigned.• Ability to work collaboratively with the laboratory team is essential• Ability to manage change• Proficient with ARIS Instrumentation• Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate in an effective and professional manner• Good knowledge of instrumentation and equipment used in the laboratory and in laboratory procedures and processes• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving• Must be self-motivated and able to prioritize work• Efficiency in word processing applications and good knowledge of Laboratory Information SystemsREQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Microbiology• 2+ years of Clinical Microbiology experience in a Lab and/or Hospital required• 2+ years of supervisory experience• Substitute: MT or MLT instead of MS (concentration in Microbiology)• Qualifies as a Technical Supervisor according to CLIA guidelines• PCR experience is not necessary but is beneficial
