Responsibilities

We are seeking a Legal Secretary to join State Farm’s In-House counsel in the Downtown Dallas, Texas office.  We hire the best employees to serve our customers, making us a leader in the insurance and financial services industry.  

Suzanne Calvert & Associates is seeking individuals that are comfortable in a high volume, team-oriented work environment where it is critical to stay organized and prioritize work as it is assigned.  The successful candidate will support attorneys performing the following:  finalizing, filing, and serving motions, pleadings and other legal documents, managing and scheduling the attorney/team calendars including depositions, deadlines, and due dates, communicating with our claims partners and clients, and mail distribution including incoming and outgoing.  The ability to work well with a team of lawyers, paralegals, and communicate with opposing counsel and staff is essential for this role.

You will be working in a hybrid environment, with some required presence in the office and some remote. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs.

Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm


Qualifications

  • 3-5 years civil litigation experience preferred 
  • Personal injury experience preferred
  • Litigation and trial experience preferred
  • Calendaring/scheduling management
  • Proficiency in software technology, tools, and case management system
  • Working familiarity with court rules of procedure
  • Propounding discovery
  • Setting depositions including non-retained and retained expert witnesses
  • Filing motions and pleadings (required in a high volume)
  • Electronic case load environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Insurance defense
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe and e-filing is highly desired
